How to Organize for the Baby on the Way

Bringing a new little one home is always an adventure. Whether it’s your first baby or fifth, there are a lot of products that they need, and properly organizing them can be a challenge. We hope to help guide you with a few organization tips for organizing for a new baby.

How to Organize for a New Baby

Designate and Create Baby Zones in your home

One of our first tips for organizing any space is to give everything a home. So when you are planning to bring home a new little one carving out zones from your existing space is necessary.  Find a room or a space that will work for your baby. This can be transitioning a guest room into a nursery or even shifting a portion of your bedroom for a bedside nursery. The important thing is to decide where all the baby items will go, and once you have that space set start to categorize like items together. Carve out baby zones around your home. It’s important to designate a play area for toys and a drawer or shelf for bottles in the kitchen.

Take inventory of what you already have & figure out what you still need

For those of you that are first-time parents, it can be incredibly daunting to build out your first nursery. When you are creating your baby registry remember to include the essential items and furniture pieces. Once you have the crib and the changing table in place, all the cute details will fall into place much easier. Whether you got hand-me-downs from family or an exchange on a social network, you’ll most likely inherit duplicates or things that just aren’t your style. Make sure to go through and purge anything that you don’t need then donate. Don’t feel guilty getting rid of things you don’t need, these items will go to good use in another home! Don’t overbuy. Remember that all those extra toys will need to be stored somewhere, so especially in the beginning try to resist overbuying of toys and stuffed animals.

Organize & Style

Once you have your new furniture pieces in place, start to map out the flow of your nursery with post-it notes or tape. Make sure the changing table is set up for a quick change and wipes and trash are easily accessible. After you are happy with the flow you can start to add in the clothes and diapers. Make sure to add in containers and dividers for your baby’s little things to keep structure and organization! Now the fun part of adding in the cute details. Regardless of theme, make sure your baby’s space is clean and safe!
