Jen's House Update
I can't quite wrap my head around it, but it's been nearly a year since we got the keys to our new house. Many of you have been with me during our extensive house-hunting phase. We'd always dreamt of a home that we could pour our heart into and reshape according to our whims and wishes. A sanctuary where the kids could splash in the pool, an expansive yard where our dogs (& foster dogs) could play, and above all, a haven that would resonate with warmth, love, and laughter. Over the last year, our house journey has been filled with excitement, challenges, and countless joyous moments. I’m beyond excited to update you on all of the developments, so let's dive in.
First and foremost, I have to give a ton of recognition to Dan, who has been our project manager through this entire process. Managing a full home remodel project isn’t for the faint-hearted, but with his precision and unwavering dedication, we've kept to our timeline. Speaking of the people who have been making this process efficient, I cannot give enough credit to the subcontractors! Their craftsmanship and the hard work have been the backbone of our progress.
Due to the best team we could have ever asked for, our home is truly beginning to take shape in the most tangible way. The framing phase is underway, and we've officially poured the cement! It feels surreal to witness the outline of what will soon be our living space, bedroom, kitchen, and all those special nooks and corners we’ve dreamt about.
Now that we have covered the bones of the house, it’s time to cover my personal favorite part, the design. Getting into the design groove is both electrifying and slightly daunting. It’s been a constant process of handpicking hardware to debating over appliances and getting lost in a world of cabinetry. As for deciding on exterior elements, it has been an adventure of its own. Boards, siding, finishes — the options are honestly endless. Fortunately, we're getting close to finding that ideal mix, one that resonates with our vision for the home. As you can see, we are getting closer everyday and I have honestly loved every second, but it’s definitely been a lot.
In the midst of all the madness, I’ve had the chance to try out Wayfair’s new AI Software, Decorify. I've always believed in blending tradition with innovation and that's why I'm thrilled to be using this software for designing a specific space in my new home. This isn't just any software; it's a game-changer. By understanding our preferences, spatial dynamics, and design aspirations, it offers curated suggestions that align perfectly with our vision. It's been an incredible tool, helping to streamline our decisions and visualize the end result.You can see how I’m using it on my latest reel!
