Jen’s Fall Decor Picks

There’s no denying that fall is in the air as October approaches! PSLs are back at Starbucks, Trader Joe's fall food items are flying off the shelves, and Freeform is on the verge of releasing their 31 Nights of Halloween schedule.

With all things fall hitting stores and your screens, it’s about that time to get into the autumn spirit! Regardless of where you may live and what the weather is like, it’s time to get inspired and drag out your tricks and treats, and kick off your spooky season with home decor! Whether you’re a fan of more subtle, autumn harvest tones and pieces, or prefer to mix in some spookier decor geared towards Halloween, I’ve got you covered.

Below, I’ve put together my must-have pieces for the fall, sure to liven up any space.

Fillers

One surefire way to incorporate autumn into your home is with faux pumpkin fillers. These are great for filling large bowls, trays, vases, or simple scattering throughout your home. The great thing about fillers is how subtle they can be, while still bringing a classic fall feeling into your space.

Decorative Pumpkins

Another way to feature seasonal items in your home is to invest in larger decorative pumpkins of your choosing. There are endless styles to choose from, and they offer the ability to match decor with any style! These pumpkins are perfect for displaying on entryway tables, media consoles, or beside your fireplace.

Foliage

An undeniably iconic aspect of the fall is the changing colors of leaves and plants as the weather grows colder. Even if trees remain green where you live during the autumn, a great way to bring out fall colors is through dried or faux foliage. These bring natural fall colors into your home, and are a great way to incorporate the most classic aspects of the fall into your spaces!

Scent

Another fall essential is, of course, the smells. Scents of cinnamon, cider, pumpkin, nutmeg, ginger, vanilla, clove, or sugar are the perfect way to warm up your space, and set the tone for a season of gathering. Candles invoke the senses, drawing out nostalgia, and memories of childhood pumpkin picking on a cool fall day with a hot cider and pumpkin spice. Nothing sweeter!

Wreaths

A long time trend for any holiday is decorating porches and front doors to reflect warm spirits and spread inspiration to neighbors. Wreaths are such an easy way to tie seasonal tones and textures into your outside of your space, and also welcome others to celebrate the season with you!

Ceramics and Vases

To go along with your fall foliage, or simply to tie in fall harvest tones into your space, try using pottery, glass, or stone vases to spice up your space. Warm toned vases in burgundy, red, orange, yellow, and cream can bring seasonal elements of the fall into your space in a unique and exciting way.

Door Mats

To tie into the wreaths on your front door/porch, a thematic door mat to match the season is also a fun way to show your friends and neighbors that you’re getting into the autumn spirit! Plus, they can put a smile on anyone’s face as soon as they set foot in your space!

Blankets

Fall is undeniably the coziest season there is. Autumn toned throw blankets are the perfect way to subtly decorate your space, while also making it more comfortable and welcoming. Investing in fall themed blankets is a definite win-win, in our book!

Throw Pillows

To go along with the blankets, themed throw pillows also add that comfy-cozy feeling into your space.

Wall Decor & Garland

To take your decorating to the next level—while also staying within your budget— wall decals and garlands are the perfect way to spice up your home, and also tie together the rest of your fall items. Simple, affordable, so adorable, and the perfect element to top off your fall decor!

Priceless fall spirit boosters include seasonal music, a walk in nature to admire the fall foliage, a visit to a pumpkin patch, apple picking, carving pumpkins, baking fall treats, and DIY decorations with family and friends. Nothing better!
