5 Easy Kitchen Organization Hacks

For me, one of the most important rooms in a home is the kitchen. It’s the space that fosters community and the place where our families come together to cook, eat and spend time with the ones they love. It should be the center of the home—a calming, warm, and inviting space. But for some it’s also a place where chaos lives due to a lack of sufficient storage solutions & organizational systems. Even if you’re not ready to give your kitchen a complete organizational makeover, there are still small & easy steps to get rid of the kitchen chaos once and for all!

1. Put silverware next to the dishwasher for easy clean-up

When we space-plan in a kitchen, we always place the silverware based on the location of the dishwasher. That way, you can always put them away easily and quickly when unloading.

2. Add a 4-sort divider for cutting boards, charcuterie boards, baking sheets, and muffin tins

This is our favorite hack when it comes to the kitchen! Instead of stacking flatter items in a random cabinet or drawer, using a 4-sort to stack them vertically not only saves space, but adding structure makes it so easy to get what you need in a pinch. Plus, your charcuterie board deserves to have a moment on display!

3. Keep lids secured on tupperware containers for efficient storing & easy prepping

One of the biggest problem areas for people in the kitchen is the dreaded tupperware drawer. Lids constantly get lost and looking for matches takes almost as long as it does to meal prep! We love to actually match and secure tupperware sets and then file stack them. Game changer!

4. Place heavier items towards the bottom of the cabinets

Although this one seems fairly simple, keeping heavier appliances towards the bottom is more efficient and safer than keeping them up high. Many people think that the crockpot they use once in a blue moon is best stored high up because they rarely access it, but getting it down can actually be a safety hazard, so we opt for low down.

5. Decant food items displayed on the countertop

From oils, vinegars to salt & pepper to spices, decanting the food items that live on your counter will make for easy use when you need them in a hurry. It also elevates the aesthetic in your space, adding in some decorative flair and personality.
